Dr Tann at ADI (Alzheimer’s Disease International) conference in Krakow, Poland

Dr. Debra Tann had the wonderful opportunity to recently attend the ADI (Alzheimer’s Disease International) conference in Krakow, Poland. Dr. Tann served as a speaker and moderator for a breakout session on the lexicon of dementia. She spoke with powerhouse women from France, Japan, 2 and Africa. The dialogue proved to be phenomenal, which generated dynamic dialogue during the Q&A segment. This international conference theme was “Dementia: Insights. Innovations. Inspirations.” The conference brought together experts from across the world to share information on achievements, innovations and best practices in dementia research, care and policy; while continuing to address and challenge the perceptions around dementia. Dr. Tann stated she enjoyed the cultural experience, immersion of the historical education, and the food. Moreover, she said, “the enormous dementia learning curve provided a backdrop for her local, state, and national work. The dementia thought leaders; including those living with dementia, were phenomenally prepared and delivered to a world class audience of conference attendees.”

The conference in Rochester, Minnesota was incredible! Conference manager, Angela Lunde, organized a spectacular event for all.

The conference launched with a song by Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes entitled “Wake Up Everybody.” This call to action brought synergy from the conference watch sites, audience, and speakers.

The conference emphasis was on caregivers. The keynote speakers selected by Angela Lunde, were simply riveting. The audience, including myself, were brought to tears by the keynote speaker’s personal journey, including their struggles, highlights, philosophy, and courage.

From the Friday evening cocktail mingle and all in-between activities were noteworthy. Including the breakout sessions, the well verse presenters, and exhibit hall. Each of these opportunities created a full circle educational and networking experience.

Thank you to DAA’s board of directors and advisory board. It was my honor to represent  us at the conference. The collaborative work by DAA is recognized, respected, and resilient as illustrated by my reception at the conference.
